Impossible Colors (V2) | Transformer Coupled Fuzz

$249.00

Impossible Colors II builds on the original platform with a powerful new active EQ, a switchable preamp boost, and a wider range of fuzz textures for the adventurous player.

Try to imagine a new color. Try really hard. Anything? You cant do it very easily. We have screens everywhere in our lives that are capable of displaying millions of colors, but its really just millions of ever so slightly different shades and variations of the seven familiar colors in the rainbow. Humans color perception is limited by the antagonistic nature of the cones in our eyes and the opponent color theory breaks this perception into three segments where opposite colors are detected by different cells. Because these cells work by detecting the difference between colors, it is impossible to perceive a combination of them. So an impossible color is one that cannot exist or be perceived, because we are unable to see it. That sounds way more complex than it should. Best to just try and imagine an intensely bright red-green. Good luck.

Impossible Colors the pedal is a combination of deeply unique and flexible fuzz and drive textures that can be fine tuned for everything from saggy tube amp overdrive to amp-on-fire distortion to somehow the guitar is a brass instrument playing suboctaves. Its the intensely bright red-green of distorted guitar tones. Enjoy!

KNOBS
Volume - Sets the output volume. Ample boost above unity is available.

Bass - Boost or cut frequencies below 100Hz by 12dB.

Treble - Boost or cut frequencies above 4K Hz by 12dB.

Texture - Adjusts the voltage fed to a portion of the circuit to change both the dynamic range of the clipping amp and the character of the clipping.

Attack - Sets the input gain of the circuit from light boost to heavy clipping

Boost - Preamp boost feeding the transformer stage to allow for additional fuzz, flexibility in gain staging, or pseudo preset functionality. For example, you in dial in unique suboctave textures with the Attack and Texture controls and then use the Boost mode to jump back into full-frequency fuzz. Experiment and see what works for your guitar/amp/hopes and dreams.

SWITCHES
Low Cut/Low Boost - Selects between two frequency ranges feeding the clipping circuit which completely alter the feel and response of the pedal. The switch down setting stays tight and guitar-like. When combined with low Texture settings, the upper setting delivers horn sounds and suboctaves in parallel with the note played. Heavily interactive with the Mode switch and Attack and Texture controls.

Mode I/II - Selects between two clipping configurations to define the overall amount of overdrive or fuzz. Think of this as two channels for any given setting on the pedal. With the switch in the down position you’ll find medium clipping and a smoother overdrive tone that becomes thick and dense when rolling back the texture knob for some sag. With the switch in the up position you’ll get the most distortion and the weirder sounds in the pedal if used with the upper position of the Low cut/boost switch and low Texture settings.

SECRET INSIDE STUFF
Impossible Colors features a transformer-coupled input stage that simulates the inductance and electrical qualities of an electric guitar pickup so the circuit reacts as if plugged directly into your guitar even when used after buffers.
